
The IAFSS and
Interflam
are pleased to invite those attending Interflam to a
complimentary Workshop on Large Outdoor Fires and the
Built Environment
(LOF&BE)
to be held on Sunday afternoon 30th June
2019, on the eve of the
Interflam Conference
near London.
This initiative supplements that made by the IAFSS in
recognising the urgent and necessary requirement to
address the escalating issues.
Wildfires that
spread into communities, referred to as Wildland-Urban
Interface (WUI) fires, and other large urban fires, such
as those that have occurred after earthquakes or in
informal settlements having catastrophic impact.
The IAFSS Working Group leaders are: Sara McAllister,
U.S. Forest
Service, USA; Sayaka Suzuki,
National Research
Institute of Fire and Disaster, Japan; and Samuel L.
Manzello, NIST,
USA.
LOF&BE is comprised of three subgroups:

Emergency Management and
Evacuation;
